Rates and Fees

Our 2016 Seson is now over.  Next season’s rates and fees will be posted to our website in late November and sales will begin in January.

We require that all visitors between the ages of 13 and over to purchase a gate pass during our summer season. If you are purchasing a single event ticket or registering for a class your ticket or registration will admit you to the grounds. No need to purchase an additional pass.

You will also need a parking pass. Most people park in our Main Parking Lot across from our grounds. Some accommodations offer private parking on grounds. Please check with your host before purchasing.

Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra



On sale starting in January.
If you are coming for a single event, your event ticket will admit you to the grounds for the event
. You do not need an additional gate pass. For an evening performance, you will have access to the grounds from 4 p.m. to midnight.


Gate Passes

A gate pass is your passport to the Chautauqua Experience, entitling you to attend most events and activites on the grounds including all events in the Amphitheater such as popular entertainment concerts, Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra performances, lectures and religious services.

Everyone over the age of 12 is required to have a gate pass or event ticket to visit the grounds during the summer season.

Parking Passes

Most of our parking is located in the Main Parking Lot. Many rental units and hotels do not provide on-grounds parking. Renters and hotel guests should check with the property owners prior to purchase or contact the Ticket Office.

Sunday Parking | Parking in the main lot is free from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Sunday.

Evening Entertainment Parking | Evening event parking passes are good for the day. These passes can be purchased with an Entertainment Ticket.

Youth Registration

Children's School

Ages 3–5
Chautauqua Children’s School is a developmental preschool for youth ages 3–5. The school is located at the corner of Hurst and Pratt avenues and operates six classrooms 9 a.m.–noon, Monday through Friday. Each classroom is staffed with four leaders, including certified teachers, college-age early childhood majors, and high school students. The teachers work as a team and share classroom responsibilities.

Group One

Age 6 or First Grade
Group One is designed for children who will be entering first grade in the fall. This special full-day program (9 a.m.–noon and 2–4 p.m.) is held Monday through Friday and utilizes the Children’s School and Sheldon Hall of Education facilities and schedule in the morning and the Boys’ and Girls’ Club facilities and schedule in the afternoon. It is intended as a transition between these two programs and includes active play, art activities, swimming and waterfront programs and special events. The children receive an orientation to both facilities during the first morning.

Boys' and Girls' Club

Boys’ and Girls’ Club is a day camp program for youth entering second grade through 10th grade in the fall. 
Located at the south end of the grounds on the lakefront, Club provides a diverse program that includes field activities, swimming (instructional and free swim), canoeing, kayaking, sailing, nature, crafts, individual and team sports, music and experiences in the arts. As available, Club offers opportunities in science, dance, opera and outdoor education.

Boys’ and Girls’ Club is in session from 9 a.m.–noon and from 2 p.m.–4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Club is a registered day camp and operates under the guidelines and regulations of the New York State Department of Health.

Chautauqua has eight Har-Tru tennis courts at the Turner Community Center recreation campus. Two courts are illuminated for night play. Private and group lessons, tournaments, clinics, junior development programs and special events are offered. During Chautauqua’s summer season membership registrations will only take place at the tennis courts.

Honoring a golfing tradition since 1896 the Chautauqua Golf Club presents quality, professional service and the challenge of 36 championship holes. Both the Lake and the Hill Course have received four-star ratings from Golf Digest magazine. Club membership includes greens fees and use of the Learning Center – a complete teaching and practice facility.

Fitness Center

Chautauqua Institution provides two fitness facilities. The Turner Community Center is open year-round. During the season, a second facility is available at Heinz Beach. Both sites are dedicated to personal exercise, health and wellness, and are equipped with modern cardiovascular, strength-training, and free-weight equiptment. Staff, including certified personal trainers, are on-site to assist members. Short and long-term memberships are available and also include access to the Turner indoor pool. Separate pool memberships are also available. Members must be at least 14 years of age.


Boat Mooring & Registration

Chautauqua Institution offers rental slip, ramp and buoy mooring in an assigned space. Vessels moored at an Institution or private dock are required to purchase and display a current registration sticker. The mooring rental period must match the dates on an accompanying gate pass.

Slip or ramp assignments for Institution-owned docks are subject to registration fee and a mooring fee and are billed separately on receipt.

  • Mooring Renewals: Must be purchased before March 16 to reserve the prior season assignment.
  • Mooring Reassignment: Submit request to ticketoffice@ciweb.org before March 16. Notification of reassignment begins late May.
  • New Mooring: Only done through the Central Dock Office. Starting June 1, contact the office at docks@ciweb.org or 716-357-6288


Sailing Center Rentals & Instruction

Chautauqua's Sailing Department, under the leadership of Gary Snyder, presents a comprehensive curriculum of one-week sailing courses. The courses have been carefully designed to advance the sailing skills of all – youth, adult and novice to advanced sailors.


Sports Club

The Chautauqua Sports Club offers a wide variety of recreation activities. Bridge, shuffleboard, horseshoes, lawn bowling and kayak, canoe as well as paddleboat rentals. There are no “membership” fees, and all services may be purchased individually at the Sports Club, including season “passes” for some activities.
